Wilson Electronics has named Robert Van Buskirk as its new president and CEO. Van Buskirk comes to the cell signal booster maker from his previous role as president of RF Micro Devices.
Wilson’s management move comes at a pivotal time for the signal booster industry as new FCC regulations have come down to legitimize the practice.
After carriers voiced concerns over potential interference caused by boosting cell signals, the FCC tightened up the technical requirements which boosters must meet as well gave cellular providers the right to determine if signal boosters can be used on their networks.
When the FCC originally proposed the rules for signal booster two years ago, Wilson worked with carriers like Verizon to settle on requirements that would be mutually beneficial.
Entering a new time for the signal booster industry, one with some of the regulatory red tape behind it, Van Buskirk said he will focus on global market penetration.
