Popular in Asia and growing in North America and Europe, The LINE app gives users free voice calls on iOS, Windows Phone, and Android over 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi, along with free messaging.
U.S. Cellular is adding to its LTE device line-up with the launch of the 4G LTE ZTE Unite Mobile Hotspot, which is available in stores and online today for $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. The ZTE Unite allows users to simultaneously connect up to 10 Wi-Fi devices when connected to the 4G LTE network.
Onebip, the global mobile payments service from Neomobile, today announced the launch of its subscription payment service for Android devices. Onebip released its first subscription service in 2005 and has managed subscriptions, also known as recurring payments, for online dating and networking sites since 2008. Onebip said it has enhanced its offering by introducing Onebip Android in-app for subscription payments.
Venture capitalists invested $26.5 billion in 3,698 deals in 2012, a decrease of 10 percent in dollars and a 6 percent decline in deals over the prior year, according to the MoneyTree Report by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), based on data from Thomson Reuters. For the fourth quarter, venture investment of $6.4 billion into 968 companies fell 3 percent in dollars, but rose 5 percent in deal volume over Q3 2012.
