Technology services company Aricent has named IBM executive Frank Kern as its new CEO.

Current CEO Sudip Nandy will move to a new position overseeing Aricent's business in India.

Kern has an "outstanding track record of leading and growing global businesses, and taking them from one level to the next," Aricent board member Jamie Greene said in a statement.

Kern's new post is effective today. He retired from IBM earlier this year, and most recently managed IBM's global operations for its $19 billion global consulting division.

While at IBM, Kern held posts in a number of international offices including Shanghai, Tokyo, Paris and Australia.

Aricent provides services to a number of top companies in the wireless space, including Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco and Nokia Siemens Networks. Earlier this year, it announced it had landed 35 contracts for its LTE software.
