Qualcomm and Vitelcom announced that the i-mode G600i mobile handset is commercially available in Spain from network operator Telefonica Moviles.
The new handset uses Qualcomm's Mobile Station Modem (MSM6250), which supports W-CDMA, GPRS and GSM standards.
"Vitelcom is excited to provide one of the first UMTS i-mode phones to Telefonica Moviles," Carlos Carrero, Vitelcom's CEO, said in a statement. "We look forward to providing a feature-rich, exciting and consistent end-user experience for European i-mode subscribers."
The G600i handset features the MSM6250 chipset, which is part of Qualcomm's multimedia platform of single-chip solutions that power multimedia devices and applications. Vitelcom Mobile Technology, a European company established in 2001, manufacturers GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and CDMA2000 mobile phones operating from Spain, France and Germany.
