Quickoffice, a global provider of mobile office productivity software and solutions, has announced a multi-year agreement with Sony Ericsson that includes the Quickoffice software platform on all future Sony Ericsson smartphones. Customers will have fast and easy access to their native Microsoft Office files and will be able to open, view, edit and create documents directly from their Symbian UIQ smartphones.

• U.S.-based mobile e-mail start-up Berggi announced it has partnered with major Chinese Internet portal Sina and is setting up an office in Beijing. The company said it is targeting the world's largest mobile market, and it expects the three-year partnership to help propel its number of Chinese users into the millions.

AT&T has announced a new contract to deliver a custom mobility solution to the Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM) for the state of Texas. The solution, the Texas Special Needs Evacuation Tracking System (SNETS), is the country's first statewide citizen-evacuation system and uses a variety of radio-frequency identification (RFID), wireless and mobile data technologies to provide real-time information on evacuees, enabling the GDEM to better support the evacuees and their families during a crisis.

Verizon Wireless has announced that it has refreshed its V CAST Today daily video preview and summary of V CAST Video content. GoTV Networks will program and produce the V CAST Today daily segment offered to Verizon Wireless' V CAST customers.
