Motorola, through its venture capital arm, has made an equity investment in ViVOtech, a provider of contactless and mobile phone payment technologies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Motorola, "ViVOtech's platform is designed for easy collaboration among issuers, mobile operators and technology providers to deliver the most intuitive and integrated consumer experience across a range of new customer services."

In Motion Technology, a provider of in vehicle area networks for public safety organizations, announced that its onBoard Mobile Gateway not only provides leading edge connectivity and interoperability for first responders today, but is ready for use in a nationwide 700 MHz public safety network planned in the U.S. During a live trial in Washington, DC, the onBoard Mobile Gateway switched seamlessly between EVDO and 700 MHz, a portion of the radio frequency spectrum has been set aside by the government for use by police, firefighters and emergency medical personnel.

WeRoam, a wholesale aggregator of Public WLAN Roaming, has won Devicom, Sweden, as customer of its open WLAN Roaming platform. The two companies have signed an agreement that allows Devicom to offer international wireless broadband access to over 35'000 WeRoam Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide in over 60 countries using the highly flexible Connection Assistant solution.

SkyCross, a global wireless company providing antenna-centric, radio-frequency solutions, announced that Chinese manufacturer Hisense is purchasing SkyCross antennas for wireless devices ranging from advanced multi-function mobile handsets fixed wireless phones for emerging economies.
