• Verizon Wireless announced that its customers can now access the hottest Bollywood Ringtones and Ringback tones on their phones. Additionally, on Verizon FiOS TV, Verizon's next-generation TV service, customers can view the hottest music videos, TV shows and movies from Bollywood. Through a relationship with Saavn, a leader in digital distribution of South Asian content and packages, Verizon Wireless customers can access hit music from the Indian film industry (known as "Bollywood") directly on their mobile phones. Bollywood's most anticipated theatrical release of the year, "Om Shanti Om," opens on Nov. 9, and Verizon Wireless customers can get Ringtones and Ringback tones from the film today.
• T-Mobile USA, announced that it is partnering with One Laptop per Child for its Give One Get One initiative. T-Mobile is offering one year of complementary T-Mobile HotSpot access to people who donate an XO laptop to a child in a developing country through the campaign. The Give One Get One philanthropic campaign puts laptops into the hands of children in the developing world. From Nov. 12 to Nov. 26, 2007, people can donate $399 for two laptops. One laptop will be given to a child in the developing world. The other laptop will be sent to the donor along with information on how to activate the one year of complimentary T-Mobile HotSpot service.
• YouMail, a consumer voicemail service for the mobile industry, announced that it has raised $4.5 million in series A funding from VantagePoint Venture Partners. Additionally, Craig Cooper, venture partner at VantagePoint, will join the YouMail Board of Directors. YouMail will use the proceeds to invest in further product development and marketing initiatives, and expand its management and development teams.
• Magmic Games announced an agreement with Vivendi Games Mobile to bring several popular Vivendi Games Mobile titles to BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices. Magmic attains the worldwide rights to publish select Vivendi Games Mobile titles for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices including Caesar, Crash Tag Team Racing, Leisure Suit Larr: Love for Sail, Shock BlocksT, Surviving Hollywood and The Legend of SpyroT. The smartphone titles will be available through Magmic's distribution partners as well as through Magmic.com and its direct-to-consumer BlackBerry portal, Bplay.com.
