The Lead

As much as 30 percent of total network sites are located on rooftops. This presents a challenge to carriers and their partners to harden sites against grid power outages by selecting solutions that meet the desired amount of power and runtime while accounting for the structural limitations of the building/rooftop, relevant codes and regulations related to fuel storage , logistics and environmental considerations including noise, vibration and emissions. Three viable power solutions: internal combustion generators, batteries and fuel cells, are compared against these parameters providing a matrix from which carriers may choose the best option for each particular rooftop setting.

Inside this White Paper we will show an Signaling Tester which emulates an end - to - end 4G wireless network. It is desirable to use a network emulator since the goal is to monitor and understand the overall be havior of a smartphone and the impact that it would place on a live network before the device or application is permitted to operate on the live network.

Mobile video optimization started as a singular focus on reducing traffic on the network but has shifted to two distinct requirements. While the savings angle is still attractive to operators who have an all-you-can-eat data offering, others are leveraging optimization as a means improve the user experience. This paper will explore how video optimization technology can be intelligently used to reduce the peak throughput generated in mobile data networks, and how QoE-focused techniques for contextually selective video optimization are the key assets in finding balance between savings and QoE.

Driven by ever-increasing demands for higher data rates, lower latency, and higher capacity, cellular radio access technology has advanced dramatically over the past decade or so. Since packet data connectivity was introduced in cellular’s second generation, some of the more important advancements introduced include: adaptive modulation and coding (AMC), turbo coding, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ), multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) antenna systems, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), and ever-widening channel bandwidths.

With LTE transforming mobile communications, this Heavy reading whitepaper discusses the need for operators to create "content-centric networks". Specifically, it looks at how by deploying IT technology in the RAN and locating memory, compute, application logic and content closer to the user, operators are able to redesign service platforms to meet and stimulate demand for richer, more sophisticated services.
