Verizon Wireless Ma rkets Motorola Megapixel Handset
By Susan Rush
WirelessWeek - August 13, 2004

In the name of better photo shots, Verizon Wireless has begun stocking the Motorola V710 1.2-megapixel CDMA camera phone.

Along with its 1.2-megapixel camera, the V710 sports video playback, record and messaging functionalities, Mobile Web 2.0 SM, a 2.2-inch internal color screen and e-mail as well as Bluetooth connectivity. The Bluetooth handset, however, must be purchased separately as an accessory.

With camera phones gaining in popularity in the United States, more megapixel camera phones are coming to market. Last month, for instance, Sprint introduced a 1.3-megapixel camera phone from Audiovox Communications.

Verizon Wireless is currently offering the handset for $249.99, after a $70 rebate and a signed 2-year service agreement.

Although the V710 is just now making its commercial, the handset is already a star of sorts. The handset had a starring role in a Motorola-bankrolled short film called "String Theory" from independent film director Scott Sanders. The 7-minute film can be played from the handset.
