Samsung May Launch First Tizen Phone in India

Samsung Electronics Co., which faces a slowdown in emerging market smartphone sales, will release its long-delayed Tizen-powered handset in India before the end of this year, a report said Monday. Samsung's first Tizen-based device will be launched in November in India, said Tarun Malik, director of Samsung's Media Solutions Center in Southwest Asia, in an interview with Economic Times.

Samsung Launching First Tizen Smartphone in 2Q

A Samsung executive told Reuters that the company will release a high-end smartphone running the Tizen operating system near the end of the second quarter. Shortly after Samsung will launch a second mid-range Tizen device to drive volume, Yoon Han-kil, senior vice president of Samsung's product strategy team, told Reuters.

Samsung is advancing its master plan to connect all of its devices with today's launch of Samsung Smart Home in the United States and Korea. In a statement, Samsung said the service features a single app that allows users to connect and control home appliances, TVs and mobile devices.
