The partnership centers around a new class of business apps that will run on iOS devices. The companies are boasting "a new class of more than 100 industry-specific enterprise solutions including native apps, developed exclusively from the ground up, for iPhone and iPad."
Verizon over the weekend added the iPad and Android tablets to its Edge early upgrade program. “We’ve had other tablet payment plans in the past, but now we’re focused on Edge,” a Verizon spokesperson told Wireless Week when asked about why tablets are just coming to Edge.
Apple said that its phones are constantly figuring location by pinging cell towers in order to determine location in a quick and reliable manner. But it said all of that is done at the device level and it is not tracking end users. It also said that tracking a phone's location using GPS takes too long and would not result in a satisfying user experience.

If Android and the many OEM partners can find a way to close the fragmentation gap, then Android Wear could become as pervasive as its parent software. Of course, if someone releases a commercially viable smartwatch with its own cellular connection, then fragmentation ceases to be a phone-watch pairing issue and becomes a standalone smartwatch problem.
The reduced prices come as Apple and its partners might be trying to get rid of existing inventory before a fall launch of the iPhone 6. A recent report from the International Business Times claims that Apple has set a September 19 release day for the iPhone 6.
Amazon is offering up the apps as part of the company's Free App of the Day. The apps include titles such as Travel Interpreter ($9.99) and PUZZINGO Puzzles ($14.99). Amazon said the apps have a combined value in excess of $100. The apps will be available for free download on Friday, June 27th and Saturday, June 28th.
T-Mobile today further aligned itself with Apple's products by offering its prepaid service on iPhones through Apple reail stores. The Uncarrier Thursday said that customers can now purchase and activate an iPhone with T-Mobile service in more than 250 Apple stores.

BlackBerry has signed a licensing agreement with Amazon to give BlackBerry users access to the 240,000 Android applications in the Amazon Appstore. AT&T has landed the exclusive carrier rights for Amazon’s new smartphone, according to the Wall Street Journal. Amazon is expected to announce its new smartphone at an event Wednesday in Seattle. Reports and teasers from the company suggest the phone will feature 3D imaging that uses eye-tracking technology instead of glasses.
Amazon said Monday that its Amazon Appstore, which is a currated grouping of apps from Google Play that run on the company's Android-based Fire OS, has reached 240,000.
