BlackBerry Going OTT, Confirms Dates for BBM for Android and iOS

BlackBerry has confirmed BBM, the company’s messaging platform, will be available for free download on Android starting Saturday and iOS starting Sunday. In the future, BlackBerry is expecting to add BBM Channels as well BBM Video and Voice calling to its cross-platform release. The BBM for Android requires version 4.0 and up and BBM for iOS requires version 6.0 and up.

Rhapsody Cuts 15 Percent of Staff; President Resigns

Google and Nestlé have announced a cross-marketing deal that will see Google's next iteration of Android branded KitKat, after Nestle's popular chocolate bar. Names for interations of Google's Android mobile operating system began with 'Cupcake' and have evolved alphabetically. Report: US App Makers Losing Share

Developers in the United States beware, you're losing market share. That's the word from app analytics firm Flurry, which released research today that shows 45 percent of apps recording data through Flurry Analytics as of the start of June 2011 were made in this country. That's fallen off to just 36 percent as of June 2013.
