A new study from office supply retailer Staples Inc. found that 68 percent of
the people want technology gifts this holiday, including anything wireless. To
help take the guesswork out of gift buying, Staples has launched an advertising
campaign, dubbed "Easy To Buy. Sure To Please."
The campaign includes an interactive Web site tool at www.staples.com/youdecide that asks
a series of questions about how various technology products will be used and
then recommends the best fit. For example, the site asks, "There are several
ways you can input information into your PDA. Which data entry methods will you
use?" This tool, as well as standard online comparison charts, can be accessed
online or at Staples' in-store Access Point kiosks.
In the wireless arena, Staples expects top sellers to include the Palm
Tungsten E among business users and the Sony Clie SJ22 and Palm Zire 71 among
personal users.
