Freescale Semiconductor today introduced its new VortiQa SDN solutions, which include VortiQa open network (ON) director and switch software, optimized to run on current and future generation Freescale QorIQ multicore communications processors. The software comes with pre-integrated, commercial-grade OpenFlow-compatible data plane software to help OEMs and ODMs start designing optimized SDN system-level solutions.
Broadcom Corporation today announced the OpenFlow Data Plane Abstraction (OF-DPA) v1.0 specification, software and API, an openly published implementation of physical switch hardware pipeline abstraction for the Open Networking Foundation's (ONF) OpenFlow 1.3.1 Switch. OpenFlow, one of the methods for implementing software-defined networking (SDN), enables a standardized way of delivering a centralized, programmable network that can address changing application requirements.
Westell Technologies, Inc., a global provider of intelligent site and outside plant solutions, today announced that it has acquired Cellular Specialties, Inc. (CSI), a provider of the design and development of in-building wireless solutions including distributed antenna systems (DAS) products and small cell connectivity equipment. The all-cash purchase price was $39 million.
Inovonics, a provider of enterprise life safety and specialized commercial wireless systems, today announced that its EchoStream emergency call system components have received certification under ANSI/UL Standard 2560, Emergency Call Systems for Assisted and Independent Living Facilities.
