Ever think you might strike up a conversation with other stuck-in-traffic commuters? Now it is possible thanks to a partnership between Air2Web and PL8Scan.com. The provider of mobile messaging and marketing applications, Air2Web, has partnered with the social networking Website to allow users to identify one another through license plate numbers and communicate via text messages.
The PL8Scan.com site launched two months ago. When a user texts a license plate number and message to the PL8Scan system, the message is stored and accessible through the Website. If the recipient is a registered PL8Scan member, the message is instantly forwarded to his or her mobile number, creating an SMS chat-like environment.
The partnership, which was facilitated by Galapagos Marketing, will enable SMS delivery service across all carriers, to any wireless device.
Originally, PL8Scan.com did not feature a mobile element. However, with the rise in social networking popularity and SMS messaging, it seemed like the next logical step. Steve Wagner, PL8Scan’s CEO said he is confident that today’s social networkers are ready to take another step forward in peer-to-peer communication.
“PL8Scan extends the usability and reach of social networking to mobile devices,” said Steve Wagner, CEO of PL8Scan. “We are confident that today’s social networkers are ready to take another step forward in peer-to-peer communication.”
