T-Mobile CEO: We’re Porting at 3 to 1 from AT&T, Sprint, Verizon

T-Mobile CEO John Legere said his company is now porting customers over from AT&T, Sprint and Verizon at a rate of 3 to 1. Speaking at last week’s GeekWire Summit, Legere said that over the last few weeks T-Mobile has seen its porting ratio with AT&T and Verizon go from 2 to 1 to 3 to 1. He added that Sprint has made a “huge in-road” and actually lowered its ratio with T-Mobile from 4 to 1.

Adobe today announced it is shipping a new release of Creative Cloud. This major release includes feature updates to 13 CC desktop tools that link to a new family of integrated mobile apps. Adobe also launched a public beta of a Creative SDK that enables the delivery of mobile apps that connect to Creative Cloud.

HP Separating Consumer Devices and Enterprise Businesses

Sprint Begins Layoffs, Expecting $160M Charge in Next Quarter

Sprint today revealed it began a series of layoffs on Sept. 30 and expects the job cuts will conclude on Oct. 31. In an SEC filing, Sprint said its “workforce reduction plan” is geared toward helping it “reduce costs and help become more competitive in the marketplace.” The company is expecting a charge of $160 million to show up on its next-quarter results.

FCC Fines Marriott $600,000 for Jamming Guests' Wi-Fi

NEW YORK (AP) — Marriott International will pay the government a $600,000 fine for jamming conference attendees' own Wi-Fi networks at one of its hotels, forcing them instead to pay as much as $1,000 each to use the hotel's own connection.

Sprint Offers Free Calling to Mexico

Sprint today introduced free calling to Mexico and nine other Hispanic and Latin America countries. Customers who sign up for Sprint’s $60 Unlimited Plan, Family Share Pack plans and Simply Unlimited now through Dec. 5 will get 500 minutes monthly for calls to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, El Salvador, Peru and Costa Rica.

HTC Profits Slow in 3Q

HTC’s newly released unaudited third-quarter numbers show a net profit of about $21 million from $1.37 billion in quarterly revenue. The new numbers dipped below HTC second-quarter unaudited results of $72 million in net profit on quarterly revenue exceeding $2.17 billion. Despite the sales decline, HTC still beat analysts’ profit estimates for the quarter.

Report: Iliad to Pursue Bigger Stake in T-Mobile

Iliad will revise its current bid for T-Mobile and aim for a larger stake in the U.S. carrier, according to Bloomberg. The French mobile provider will still be offering $33 a share but will go after a “significantly larger stake” than the 56.6 percent it originally bid to acquire from T-Mobile majority-owner Deutsche Telekom (DT).

CTIA Files to Intervene in NAB-FCC Lawsuit

CTIA today filed a motion with the District of Columbia Court of Appeals to intervene in support of the FCC over the lawsuit filed by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). The NAB and the Sinclair Broadcast Group are petitioning for a review of an FCC order establishing rules for the upcoming Incentive Auctions. The lawsuit is challenging the FCC’s order, saying it doesn’t do enough to protect broadcasters who opt out.

Dish Locks Up Joint-Bidding Agreements for AWS-3 Auction

Dish Network is all set for the FCC’s November AWS-3 auction and the satellite provider has inked some joint-bidding agreements as well. According to FCC filings, Dish has signed agreements with Northstar Wireless and SNR Wireless. As Reuters points out, Dish has indirect ownership in both companies.

NVIDIA today announced that its NVIDIA Tegra mobile processor will power the new Honda Connect in-car audio and information system in the 2015 Honda Civic, Civic Tourer and CR-V, which will be launched in Europe next year.
