FreedomPop Expands to Belgium, More Countries Soon
Freemium MVNO FreedomPop today announced an expansion to Belgium, with plans to launch in UK, Germany, France, Spain and the Pacific Rim in the coming months.
Through a partnership with Dutch carrier KPN, Belgium will be the first test market for FreedomPop’s SIM-based free data, voice and text plans. Customers in that market who sign up for a FreedomPop plan will get the SIM for free. Besides offering the international SIMs abroad, FreedomPop will be offering them to its U.S. customers. The service will work via FreedomPop’s OTT application.
The company will not be selling devices internationally.
FreedomPop warns that plan details might differ by market but that it intends to hold true to its signature 500 MB of free data per month in all international markets. In the U.S., FreedomPop offers 500 texts and 200 minutes to go along with the 500 MB in the free tier.
FreedomPop operates on Sprint’s network and recently offered up the carrier’s LTE network to its customers. The MVNO in May rolled out a new $20 unlimited everything plan.
