FirstNews Briefs: Sprint, nTelos, AT&T, IBM, Globalstar, Broadcom, Xiaomi

Sprint Corporation and NTELOS Holdings Corp. today announced that Sprint and NTELOS Inc. reached an amended agreement to extend their Strategic Network Alliance (SNA) through 2022. Under the agreement, nTelos will continue to serve as the exclusive network provider for Sprint in the SNA territory, which covers approximately 2.1 million people in West Virginia and the western part of Virginia. In addition, Sprint customers will gain access to nTelos's recently launched 4G LTE network and nTelos will have access to Sprint's 800 MHz, 1.9 GHz and 2.5 GHz spectrum throughout the territory.

AT&T today announced beginning Friday, May 23 it will expand Digital Life to cover Wheeling, Steubenville, and Weirton. With these new additions in West Virginia, Digital Life will be available in 81 markets across the U.S.

IBM today announced a collaboration with the Zambian Ministry of Health to provide citizens with improved access to 200 lifesaving drugs. Supported by the World Bank, the Department for International Development, UNICEF and London Business School, Zambia’s Medical Stores Limited (MSL) will deploy a new medical supply chain pilot project using analytics and mobile technologies to better manage medicine inventory and delivery.

Globalstar, Inc., a provider of satellite messaging and emergency notification technologies, today announced its Value Added Reseller, VehSmart, of Victorville, California, has been awarded a regional pilot project for Ecuador, which will outfit the Ecuadorian artisanal fishing fleet with satellite tracking and emergency notification devices.

Broadcom Corporation, a global provider of semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced that its 2X2 MIMO 5G WiFi combo chip is the technology behind the latest smart 4K Mi TV2 from Xiaomi.
