HP and Foxconn Wednesday announced a joint venture that will see the two companies partnering on a line of cloud-optimized servers.
According to a press release, the new product line will be aimed at service providers.
HP CEO Meg Whitman said in a statement the partnership with Foxconn reflects an evolving business model for HP's server business.
"The high-volume design and manufacturing expertise of Foxconn, combined with the compute and service leadership of HP, will enable us to deliver a game-changing offering in infrastructure economics," Whitman said.
The non-equity joint venture, in the form of a strategic commercial agreement, will take effect on May 1.
The companies said details on pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
