Freescale Semiconductor, a global provider of embedded processing solutions and communications processors for networking equipment, has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the Comcerto CPE communications processor business of Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. This business includes a series of multicore, ARM-based embedded processors and associated software, a team, and Tier One customers spanning the globe.
EXFO Inc. today announced it has acquired the assets of ByteSphere LLC, a privately held software company in the Boston area that specializes in global IT management and network monitoring solutions. This transaction extends EXFO's capabilities in network performance management for infrastructure monitoring through scalable device and network element polling.
IBM today announced the expansion of its IBM MobileFirst portfolio with new and enhanced services focused on mobile strategy and security, application development and device procurement and management including infrastructure consulting services, application platform management services, device procurement and deployment services, managed mobility services, mobile network services, mobile collaboration services, mobile virtualization services, and IBM Smart and Embedded Device Security.
Alcatel-Lucent today unveiled a new application developed by its research arm, Bell Labs, that network operators and others can use to explore how the use of the latest technologies can reduce energy consumption, costs and the carbon footprint of their networks.
