Burger King Launching Mobile App with Payment Feature
Burger King is entering the mobile space with a new app that will allow users to pay with their smartphones.
The new app will launch next month and will be accepted at more than 7,000 stores in the United States, according to a report from Bloomberg.
Users who download the app will receive coupons and special offers, and Burger King says it may add functionality at a later date that would allow users to place their orders via the app for pick up at a store.
Burger King's payment solution will include a card within the app that users can load with funds to pay for their meals.
The news comes as a variety of big name restaurants and retailers expand their mobile offerings to payment and coupon services.
Taco Bell recently announced plans for an app that will allow users to order ahead, and Starbucks is among the major brands testing Apple's iBeacon technology.
