CommScope today unveiled the ION-E, a unified wireless infrastructure platform designed around IT-based structured cabling architecture, The company says the ION-E is friendly to both wireless operators and business enterprises alike. The system brings together licensed wireless and power plus Gigabit Ethernet for WiFi into one unified wireless network that can scale to building size and is technology and spectrum adaptive.

Elephant Talk Communications Corp. today announced the completion of the initial rollout of its newly enhanced Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform known as Software DNA 2.0. which has been developed in conjunction with existing Mobile Network Operator (MNO) customers in Spain and Mexico where the systems are deployed. The platform is currently managing millions of mobile retail customers. 

At Mobile World Congress 2014, Rohde & Schwarz will showcase the R&S TSME – a new, ultracompact drive test scanner. Measuring 151 mm x 47 mm x 93 mm and weighing just 650 g, it is not only much smaller and lighter than competing devices, it also consumes very little power. The test scanner achieves significantly higher measurement speeds than comparable devices.  

Carrier iQ today announced worldwide availability of iQ xPlore SmartStart, a new analytics platform for carriers. Axell Wireless today announced a new in-building coverage solution that it says will allow mobile operators to allocate capacity to locations only where and when it is needed. Axell’s idDAS (intelligent digital DAS) allows mobile operators to dynamically allocate capacity around a facility and, in effect, provide a DAS system that can “breathe” and react to user demands. idDAS is available for order during Q1 2014. Huawei today unveiled two new additions to its MediaPad range of devices and its first wearable device at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2014. HUAWEI MediaPad X1 is 7-inch LTE Cat4-enabled all-in-one phablet. HUAWEI TalkBand B1 works as a handset and fitness tracker and is positioned as complimentary to the HUAWEI MediaPad M1, an 8-inch phablet.
