C Spire Launches High-Speed Fiber to the Home Initiative
Regional carrier C Spire, formerly known as Cellular South, Tuesday unveiled an ambitious plan to move forward with the deployment of 1 Gbps ultra high-speed fiber to the home.
Hu Meena, president and CEO of C Spire Wireless, said in a statement that to unlock "the potential of broadband for the communities we serve requires taking optical fiber all the way to their door.”
C Spire said its Fiber to the Home service will be available to any community near an existing fiber route that "opens its arms to welcome it, with fast-track permitting and homeowner pre-registration."
As part of that promise, C Spire has issued what it's calling a “Get Fiber First” call-to-action, which it says will give local residents, business owners and municipal leaders throughout Mississippi, the opportunity to pronounce why their town needs, wants and will benefit from the service.
Aside from simply offering faster Internet speeds to end users, C Spire pitched that the new fiber will offer great benefits to education and healthcare providers, as well as to municiple services.
To help cities jump start their efforts, C Spire is hosting a “Get Fiber First” town hall meeting at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 30 at its corporate offices.
