Sprint today commented on the recommendation from Institutional Shareholder Service (ISS), a proxy advisory service, that Clearwire shareholders vote in favor of the merger agreement between the companies. Sprint said it is pleased ISS recommends that Clearwire shareholders vote for Sprint’s merger agreement. "Our agreement has the unanimous support of Clearwire’s Special Committee and Board, provides Clearwire shareholders with certain, fair and attractive value and is the best strategic alternative for the company and its minority stockholders," Sprint wrote in the statement. "We urge Clearwire shareholders to support the transaction at the company’s upcoming Shareholder’s Meeting.”
Dish Network has reportedly tapped Jefferies to help it secure $25.5 billion in financing for the company's bid for Sprin. According to a report from Bloomberg, Jefferies and Barclays will look for one or two more investment banks to join the offer.
Osama Bedier, the head of Google’s Google Wallet project, has announced plans to leave the company. Bedier has been with Google since 2011. He came to Google from PayPal.
Walmart has announced that it is now offering preorders for the new Samsung Galaxy S4 with connectvity from Verizon. The Verizon version of the phone will be available in stores May 30. Meanwhile, T-Mobile's version of the Galaxy S4 is available at Walmart now for $198; AT&T's version is available at Walmart now for $168, and Sprint's is available at Walmart now for $224.
Today Cermetek announced another option for moving sensor data to the cloud. A CDMA cellular radio is now available for AquaMon and CH2178, iController. AquaMon is a web-based information system for agricultural systems. AquaMon previously connected to the Internet only through a GSM modem. The CH2178 offers web-based remote monitoring and control with Ethernet, Wifi, GSM and now CDMA communications options. The CDMA option gives Cermetek AquaMon and CH2178 customers access to Verizon and other CDMA service providers.
