Samsung announced a series of smart feature phones, Rex, and have unveiled four models; the Rex 60, 70, 80 and 90. All four phones come with Samsung’s Touchwiz UI on top of touchscreens, with the 70, 80, and 90 featuring capacitive and the 60 featuring resistive technology.

The phones all carry similar features like dual-SIM and the Opera mini browser and they all bare striking similarities in design to Samsung’s immensely popular Galaxy series.

The budget-friendly feature phones are geared toward emerging markets according to Samsung. New numbers from Gartner indicate Samsung has taken the top share of the global mobile phone market away from Nokia and the Rex line seems designed to extend that lead.

In the fourth quarter of 2012, Samsung grabbed a 22.7 percent market share of global mobile phone sales compared with the 18 percent held by Nokia. In the same quarter in 2011, Nokia held a 23.4 percent share of the global market with Samsung holding 19.6 percent.
