RealNetworks has announced that Max Pellegrini has been named President of the company’s mobile entertainment division, which delivers ring-back tone and other mobile entertainment services to carriers and device manufacturers worldwide. Under Pellegrini, RealNetworks will continue to grow its carrier services, and also create new smartphone-based consumer services.

Nexmo, a mobile messaging provider, today announced that it has closed a $3 million round of funding led by Intel Capital, and including NHN Investment Corporation and Initial Capital. The company said it will use the funds to expand its suite of APIs in the cloud telecommunications space, and finalize its direct-to-carrier rollouts around the globe. 

Funambol has introduced OneMediaHub (OMH) v12, a digital lifestyle personal cloud solution for mobile providers. OMH v12 enables mobile providers to go to market with a branded digital lifestyle personal cloud to generate revenue and retain customers. The company says OMH v12 maskes it easy to play rich media and access files across the most platforms. The new offering adds support for cloud-based music, picture-video-music albums and file sets, new PC and Mac apps, and many other improvements.

AirWatch and Fixmo, a provider of defense-grade mobile security solutions, have announced a partnership that will see the two companies deliver integrated product offerings to meet the stringent compliance, data protection and application management needs of government agencies and customers in regulated markets. As a result of the partnership, customers can now deploy Fixmo SafeZone and Fixmo Sentinel Integrity Services as integrated components of the AirWatch EMM solution.

Spirent Communications has announced a new solution to measure VoLTE and Video Chat performance as experienced by mobile subscribers. This latest addition to Spirent’s portfolio of live network and lab-based testing solutions rates the mobile experience. But Spirent says the soltuion also aims to provides the industry with tools to optimize and improve the performance of VoLTE and Video Chat service offerings on wireless networks and devices.
