Amazon Web Services Inc. today announced High Storage instances, a new Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instance family optimized for applications requiring fast access to large amounts of data. These new instances provide customers with 35 EC2 Compute Units (ECUs) of compute capacity, 117 GiB of RAM, 48 TB of storage across 24 hard disk drives, and are capable of delivering more than 2.4 GB per second of sequential I/O performance.

GreenPeak Technologies, a Smart Home RF-communication semiconductor company, today announced its new GP410 chip offering the new ZigBee PRO Green Power feature for low cost energy harvesting and long battery life ZigBee applications for the Smart Home.

AKKA, through the crowdfunding website Kickstarter.com, has launched the concept for the AKKA Ski Retriever system, a directionally-locating wireless deep powder ski retrieval system.

Wireless Matrix Corporation, a provider of software and communications to improve service fleet performance metrics, today announced the news that it has reached an agreement to sell all the shares of Wireless Matrix USA, Inc., a Delaware corporation and wholly-owned subsidiary of Wireless Matrix, to CalAmp Corp. for $53 million in cash.
