Nokia's new flagship phone, the LTE-capable Lumia 920, as well as the mid-range Lumia 820 will be hitting AT&T's network next month.

AT&T is the first carrier in the United States to announce availability of the Windows 8 smartphones.

The pair of new Lumia devices are the continuation of Nokia's on-going fight to remain relevant in smartphone market dominated by Android and Apple's iOS.

The Lumia 920 comes running Microsoft's new Windows 8 operating system and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core S4 processor. The 920 also features a 4.5-inch Pure Motion HD+ display, 8-megapixel PureView camera and a 2,000 mAh battery.

The 820 is a billed as a mid-range smartphone but still features many of the same specs, including the same chipset. However, the 820 has a smaller, lower-resolution 4.3-inch display, and an 8-megapixel camera without the PureView technology.

According to a press release, the Lumia 920 will ship in red, white, black, yellow, and cyan, while the Nokia Lumia 820 comes in black.

Both phones will run on AT&T's LTE network and are planned to be made available from the operator in November.

Nokia announced the 920 and 820 early last month. The new Lumia devices were met with a tepid response from investors, as well as reviewers.

Nokia isn’t the only OEM backing Microsoft’s tile-based mobile platform. Just weeks after Nokia introduce the world to its Windows 8 offering, HTC unveiled its high-end Windows 8 phone, the HTC Windows Phone 8X, which will be available through AT&T, T-Mobile USA, and Verizon Wireless.
