CTIA yesterday said it will announce a new partnership with the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) that will result in a ratings system for mobile applications.
In a statement, CTIA said that applications will be rated based on age-appropriateness of their content and context.
Details of the mobile application rating system will be released at a press event scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. EST. Confirmed speakers for the event will include U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH); U.S. Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR); CTIA President and CEO Steve Largent; and ESRB President Patricia Vance.
The ESRB is a non-profit, self-regulatory body established in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). ESRB independently assigns computer and video game content ratings, enforces advertising guidelines and helps ensure best practices for the interactive entertainment software industry.
