AT&T today announced availability of five new Android phones, including the Motorola Atrix 2, Samsung DoubleTime, Samsung Captivate Glide, Pantech Pocket and prepaid AT&T Avail. The new phones bring the company's total Android devices announced this year to 19 devices – that's seven more than the company had said it would roll out in 2011.

The Motorola ATRIX 2, a successor to the original Atrix, supports AT&T's HSPA+ network, comes running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and features a 4.3-inch touchscnreen, 1 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera and a smaller front-facing camera. Also available for the Atrix 2 are Motorola's line of accessories, including the webtop application and Lapdock, among others.

The Samsung Captivate Glide also comes running Android 2.3 and supports AT&T's HSPA+ network. A successor to the original Samsung Captivate, the Glide includes a slide-out qwerty keyboard, 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera and a front-facing camera.

With a quirky flip phone form factor and two touchscreens, the Samsung DoubleTime is billed as a texting and social networking phone. It comes running Android 2.2 and features a 3.2-megapixel digital camera with a camcorder, voice recognition, a dedicated function key for shortcuts, drag-and-drop widgets, five scrolling home screens and an expandable menu with scrolling panels.

The Pantech Pocket is a slim Android 2.3 device, with a 4-inch SVGA touch screen display, wide profile virtual keyboard, HSPA+ connectivity and a 5-megapixel camera.

Last but not least, the AT&T Avail from ZTE is the second Android smartphone launched for GoPhone, AT&T's prepaid offering. This device features a 3.5-inch touch screen, 5-megapixel camera and runs on Android 2.3 OS.

AT&T declined to give much detail on availability for the phones but did say that the Atrix 2 will arrive in stores and online Oct. 16 and will cost $99.99 with a two-year contract.
