U.S. Cellular is in the giving spirit. The regional carrier announced that it will offer all of its devices for free with a contract from Dec. 17 through the Dec. 24. The company is also offering a $100 credit to new customers purchasing a smartphone or existing customers who add a new smartphone line.

U.S. Cellular currently offers Android-powered smartphones like the HTC Desire, LG Optimus U and Samsung Mesmerize, as well as the BlackBerry Bold and Curve.

"Our extensive lineup of cutting-edge phones offers something for everyone. We have devices and plans for heavy texters, business people, music fans, gamers and folks who want a basic phone without the advanced features," said Edward Perez, vice president of marketing and sales operations for U.S. Cellular, in a press release.

U.S Cellular recently launched its Belief Plan, which requires an initial two-year commitment, after which customers don't ever have to sign another contract. Current U.S. Cellular customers who signed up for a Belief Plan and are already eligible for a phone upgrade can get promotional prices without signing another contract.

U.S. Cellular is up against big competition, as carriers and third-party retailers scramble to grab customers over the holiday season. AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, Best Buy  and Wirelfly, among others, have all announced deep cuts in phone prices for the month of December.
