MetroPCS announced myMetro, a mobile account management feature. The free service will be standard on all handsets.

Customers will be able to change rate plans, check account balances, pay bills and add funds to their Metro Connect pre-pay buckets.

Currently, MetroPCS subscribers dial 611 on their handset to access a customer service representative. Now, callers to that number will be prompted to use the handset menu.

The move follows in the footsteps of Tier 1 carriers that offer handset account management.

Availability was not announced and a MetroPCS representative could not be reached for comment.
