Mexican CDMA operator Iusacell will offer its customers a roaming option at the Beijing Olympics, the company and its technology partner Aicent said today.
Aicent is a specialist in linking wireless operators’ networks into IP networks for roaming and exchange services. Beijing is already the site of its Asian office, so the company is in a strong position to work with carriers at the summer games starting Aug. 8.
“Many Iusacell subscribers will be traveling to Beijing to cheer on the Mexican Olympic team, and it was important to us that while they travel in China they have access to the same services they have come to expect at home. Aicent’s [CDMA Roaming Exchange] service minimized our technical integration,” said Iusacell Director of Roaming Adrian Velasco, in a statement.
The local partner will be government-owned China Unicom, Aicent officials said.
