Anritsu this week launched new software for testing EDGE transmissions on GSM networks. The software is for the existing MS269xA signal analyzer.

The MX269013A GSM/EDGE measurement software supports 2.5G and costs $11,200, while the MX269013A-001 supports EGPRS2 and costs $7,500.  Both are useful for measuring the RF transmission characteristics of base stations, mobile terminals, devices and components, the company said.

A computer is not required, so the testers are particularly useful in bench and production environments. The new software makes the MS269xA series perform up to 10 modulation analyses in 1.5 seconds, 10 output RF spectrum measurements in 2 seconds and 10 power-vs.-time measurements in 2.5 seconds.

Other existing software options for the MS269xA support GSM, W-CDMA, mobile WiMAX and mostly recently LTE.
