AT&T announced it’s launching mobile TV service on Sunday with Qualcomm’s MediaFLO technology. The new service will be available on two handsets and plans will cost $15 a month for 10 channels.

AT&T’s new service is similar to Verizon Wireless’, which is also provided by MediaFLO. Both carriers will offer the same eight channels, including: CBS Mobile, Comedy Central, ESPN Mobile TV, Fox Mobile, MTV, NBC 2Go, NBC News 2Go and Nickelodeon. AT&T said it also will offer two exclusive channels, PIX ,which offers movies from Sony Pictures and CNN Mobile Live.

AT&T’s service initially will be available in 58 markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. The first two handsets that the service will launch on are the LG Vu and the Samsung Access. Both handsets go on sale Sunday. AT&T said more compatible handsets will be available later this year.

“AT&T Mobile TV is more than a new entertainment service – it is an experience that will significantly change and enhance our customers' mobile lifestyles,” said Mark Collins, vice president of Consumer Data for AT&T's wireless unit, in a statement.

AT&T said its mobile TV service also will feature CNCRT, a special concert channel delivered by Control Room. For the next 60 days, CNCRT will air one of approximately 30 recently recorded concerts from major recording artists.
