Enterprise software developer Wavelink Corporation announced its ability to support Symbol/Motorola operating system updates, which includes Windows CE and Windows Mobile Operating System.

The company says its Avalanche Mobility Center OS device management software lets network administrators wirelessly update the operating system on select Symbol/Motorola devices, while preserving the device's configurations and settings. The result is that the device can function and communicate with the network immediately following the OS update, and the OS updates can now be centrally deployed just as other software and settings, Wavelink said.

Wavelink points out that in addition to its support of Symbol/Motorola devices, its Avalanche MC supports all major brands of handheld mobile computers, wireless infrastructure devices and peripheral items such as printers and barcode scanners.
