Brightpoint Gets a Boost

Sprint Nextel's Boost Mobile unit is calling on Brightpoint to help peddle its products and services. Specifically, the companies have crafted a distribution agreement.

The newly signed contract will enable Brightpoint to offer its independent dealer customers the ability to become an "Authorized Boost Mobile Retailer." Authorized retailers can sell Boost Mobile service plans, devices and related accessories, as well as activate new customer accounts.

Boost Mobile was attracted to the deal with Brightpoint in part because of the company's national footprint, according to Boost Mobile officials. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Boost Mobile's pay-as-you-go wireless phone service is targeted at the youth market. At last count, the company has more than 3.1 million customers in the United States.
