A leaked internal memo from Walmart says the Apple iPhone will sell for $197 in the 8 GB version and $297 in the 16 GB version, Wired magazine reported today.
There has been speculation about whether Apple would allow Walmart to sell the smartphone for a discount, per the budget retailer’s reputation. But the actual discount for consumers is only $2.
The memo also confirms the Dec. 28 release date.
Meanwhile, AT&T recently added refurbished iPhone units to its Website, for a $50 discount with a reduced warranty.
In other Apple news, the company yesterday said CEO Steve Jobs will not keynote at the upcoming Macworld Expo, nor will Apple itself exhibit after this year’s event.
