CDG, 450 Association Forge Pact
By Susan Rush
WirelessWeek - April 19, 2005

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) plans to work with the International 450 Association (IA 450) to develop and promote CDMA 450. The collaboration is being made possible through a newly signed memorandum of understanding.

The organizations have committed to working together in the areas of marketing, technology and regulatory for CDMA2000 at 450 MHz. Specifically, CDG and IA 450 will promote the development of CDMA2000 equipment and devices for the 450 MHz market as well as promoting inter-standard roaming solutions and regulatory policies.

"Working together, our organizations can combine knowledge and experience to grow opportunities for CDMA 450 worldwide," said CDG Executive Director Perry LaForge. "CDMA450 offers a very cost-effective and flexible solution for bringing 3G services to millions of people around the world, including in Latin America."

Ericsson, Lucent Technologies, Siemens and Nortel are among the many companies in the wireless sector that have pushed, or plan to push, into the 450 MHz band.
