Boonty announced the rollout of a new mobile games offering that allows consumers to purchase and download titles from a catalog of more than 1,000 games.
The New York-based company says its offering is compatible with leading mobile handset manufacturers and mobile network operators, including Java, I-mode, BREW, Pocket PC and Symbian platforms. The Boonty Mobile Games Store is a Web-based solution for mobile content delivery.
Consumers can browse by gaming genre or search via title, developer or publisher. They also can choose titles from a daily generated best-seller list. To purchase a game, the user enters his or her cell phone number and carrier information into the Web service and a download link is automatically forwarded directly to their handset via WAP push. Billing can be integrated into the customers' carrier bill or via credit/debit/pre-paid card or IVR system, depending on the market, Boonty says.
Developed by Boonty's Asian headquarters in Singapore and overseen by Cyrille Even, Boonty Asia's CEO and former COO of Mobileway (now Mobile 365), the Web-2-Mobile Games Store will be available via the BoontyGames.com Website, as well as through the company's international partners, comprised of leading ISPs, portals and computer makers. Boonty says it anticipates strong demand in markets where 3G mobile technology proliferates, including Europe, Asia and the United States.
Boonty says its mobile gaming solution is compatible with all major handset manufacturers, including Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson. The company plans to support mobile games subscription offerings in future versions, as well as try-before-you-buy demo capability. The service also distributes games for a variety of handheld devices, including PDAs that operate on PalmOS, Symbian and Windows CE.
