V CAST Mobile TV Turns 1
By Teresa von Fuchs
WirelessWeek - March 28, 2008

Not to be outdone on the mobile TV front, Verizon Wireless has announced two new, exclusive channels as it celebrates one year of V CAST Mobile TV service. The new channels are ESPN Radio with top programming such as  “SportsCenter AM,” “Game Night” and “The Pulse,” and MTV's new bilingual channel, Tr3s TV with programs such as “Sucker Free Latino,” “Rock Dinner” and “Quiero Mis Quinces.”

The new channels will launch Saturday across Verizon’s V CAST Mobile TV footprint.

Verizon currently offers more than 150 programs through its mobile TV service, and offers the service in more than 50 markets. Monthly V CAST Mobile TV packages start at $13 per month; service is now available on four handsets: the Voyager and VX9400 by LG, the Motorola RIZR Z6tv and the Samsung SCH-u620.

Ryan Hughes, vice president of digital media programming for Verizon, said in a statement: “Since we launched V CAST Mobile TV a year ago, Verizon Wireless has been the exclusive destination to get broadcast-quality television on your phone.  Our ability to deliver live programming that our customers crave is directly aligned with our overall commitment to deliver the best mobile content to our customers; our announcements with MTV and ESPN today are two more examples of how we are continuing to expand our portfolio of channels to give our customers the best in mobile content.”

V CAST Mobile TV from Verizon Wireless is powered on the FLO TV service from MediaFLO USA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm.
