• Nokia has announced the winners in the annual ‘Mobile Rules!’ competition, which recognizes initiatives from emerging application and technology developers and business startups worldwide. Announced at a ceremony in the heart of Silicon Valley at San Jose City Hall, the Mobile Rules! 08 Awards winner are: MedApps Mobile Wireless Health Monitoring System for Best Business Plan; MyStrands Social Player for Best Multimedia Mobile Application; GAMICA’s Sumo-Sumo for Best Mobile Multiplay/Connected Game; EarthComber for Best Mobile Infotainment application; UpCode’s Parking for Best Mobile Enterprise application; GENUSION’s B-4 Flash Memory for Best Future Device Architecture; Kareline Natural Composites for Best Future Touch and Feel; Kannuu for Best Mobile Multimedia Technology Innovation; and Tiki’labs’ 6 Keys for Best User Interface Technology Innovation. Grand Prizes in the Mobile Rules! ’08 Awards include the right to negotiate solution development and product creation with Nokia and other competition sponsors and participation in an Innovation Expo to be held at Nokia headquarters in Espoo, Finland. Winners also receive the right to use the title “Mobile Ruler ‘08” in all promotional materials.

• Azimuth Systems, a provider of wireless engineering test equipment, announced a range of enhancements and expansions to the world-class ACE 400WB channel emulator designed for MIMO broadband wireless communications testing.  The ACE 400WB is an industry-leading channel emulator with up to 4x4 MIMO bi-directional capabilities.  The company is also announcing the release of three new ACE 400WB models optimized for 2x2 MIMO, MIMO Wi-Fi and uni-directional testing.

• ADC has announced InterReach Office, a wireless enterprise solution that enables a high-quality GSM mobile environment with unrivaled voice quality and serves as the foundation for wireless PBX services as well as fixed-mobile convergence. ADC promises InterReach Office will enable new high-value services and reduces churn among enterprise customers.

• Ericsson announced that it has been selected to expand and upgrade leading Pakistani operator Warid Telecom's GSM/GPRS network. Under terms of the agreement, Ericsson will supply, install and commission core, radio, microwave and optical-transmission network equipment. Ericsson will also be responsible for site acquisition and civil works. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
