Ericsson has been selected as managed services partner by Saudi Arabian mobile operator Mobily, a member of the Etisalat Group. The 3-year multivendor agreement is the largest managed services agreement for Ericsson in the Middle East and one of the largest in the industry in the region. Under the agreement, Ericsson will be responsible for network operations, field operations and optimization as well as the spare parts management. The agreement also makes Ericsson responsible for site maintenance of Mobily's entire multivendor network.

Fujitsu Limited’s outdoor base station for mobile WiMAX, BroadOne WX300, has been selected by UQ Communications for the development of the company's nationwide WiMAX services infrastructure in Japan. UQ is a mobile WiMAX operator in Japan that is jointly owned by KDDI, Intel, East Japan Railway Company, Kyocera, Daiwa Securities Group and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi.

The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) announced its 2008 North American Board of Directors. The MMA Board of Directors will help to lead the association in its charter of growing a sustainable industry for mobile marketing globally with a focus on mobile advertising and mobile content.  The new board will be chaired by Tom Daly of The Coca-Cola Company. The MMA North America Executive Committee members for 2008 include: Chairman: Tom Daly, group manager of Strategy and Planning for Coca-Cola Company; Vice-Chairman: Gene Keenan, vice-president of Mobile Services, Isobar; Treasurer: Michael Bayle, senior director of Global Mobile Monetization at Yahoo!;Secretary: Maria Mandel, executive director of Digital Innovation at OgilvyInteractive; Director at Large: Michael Becker, executive vice president for Business Development at iLoop Mobile; Laura Marriott, president of the Mobile Marketing Association. In conjuction with the MMA’s board announcement Púca, a global mobile marketing company, announced that Jimmy Poon, managing director of Púca China, has been elected to chairman of the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) Asia-Pacific (APAC) Board of Directors.   Jimmy Poon is based in Beijing and he will lead the Board in driving the MMA's agenda of creating a sustainable industry for mobile marketing in the APAC region.
