• AT&T Mobility has gone live with Convergys' Dynamic Decisioning Solution. The solution helps customer service agents provide better service by enabling centralized policy creation and management, as well as automated and real-time policy enforcement across all contact channels. AT&T Mobility signed a 5-year license and support contract for this solution.
• CSR successfully integrated GPS with cellular measurements to create eGPS (enhanced Global Positioning System) technology capable of providing accurate position information on demand in all environments. CSR's location technologies are now confirmed to provide the significant power and performance improvements necessary for embedding into mobile handsets. In January, CSR and Motorola announced their intention to create the EGPS Forum.
• The National Football League (NFL) awarded a contract valued at $500,000 to Anritsu to supply the league with 36 MS2721B Spectrum Master handheld spectrum analyzers. The analyzers are being used by the NFL's Game Day Frequency Coordinators (GDC) to research, troubleshoot and analyze the RF spectrum at the league's 32 stadiums before, during and after games. The units delivered to the NFL are configured with interference analysis and channel scanner options to ensure that the GDCs efficiently coordinate the approximately 400 or more frequencies used at each stadium during a regular season NFL game. RF is used by team coaches to communicate with players on the field; all broadcast TV and radio entities; medical teams; team security; and public safety.
• STMicroelectronics introduced the VD6725, a 1/5-inch optical-format imaging sensor, with an active pixel array of 1600 x 1200 (UXGA), a high-performance image processor and camera control functions on a single chip. The sensor produces digital video streams at 15 frames per second (fps) at full UXGA resolution and 30 fps at VGA resolution.
• Boingo Wireless and Cicero Networks will demonstrate mobile VoIP and IM over Wi-Fi on dual-mode handsets using Boingo's Wi-Fi Hotspots at next week's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The companies' combined fixed mobile convergence technology is targeted at mobile operators and service providers.
• Gemalto is working with LG in order to deliver Smart Card Web Server compatible handsets. Smart Card Web Server (SCWS) is a solution developed by the SIM industry to propose to operators a rich and portable environment to develop Multimedia SIM-based applications and enhance the presentation and usability of their services.
