SinglePoint announced a partnership with Tapioca Mobile, a company specializing in mobile rich multimedia messaging, to offer an enhanced suite of mobile advertising services, including the development of advertisement-supported mobile campaigns. SinglePoint says the relationship will enable it to incorporate ad and sponsor appearances directly into existing and future multimedia mobile campaigns.

• Data management company Acxiom has named former Alcatel-Lucent exec John Meyer to the position of CEO. The appointment will be effective Feb. 4. Meyer replaces Charles Morgan, who announced his retirement last October.

Alcatel-Lucent and SFR announced that following the DVB-SH pilot jointly performed from July to December 2007, the companies have validated the fundamental assumptions for the deployment of a DVB-SH network co-localized, for its terrestrial part, with an existing commercial HSDPA network. The tests validated that it is possible to reuse the 3G+ sites, towers and antennas in order to deploy a DVB-SH mobile TV broadcast network in the frequency bands adjacent to UMTS.

• European Wi-Fi service provider The Cloud announced plans to purchase GlobalAirNet (Ganag), Germany's main Wi-Fi services provider to 4- and 5-star hotels. Ganag has more than 5,300 Wi-Fi access points located in over 300 hotels, with further expansion contracted in the hotel sector.

Proxim also said it consolidated the positions of CEO and president into a single position to streamline operations and decision-making. No reason was given for Fitzgerald's replacement. Previously, Manglik had been Proxim's president and COO since May 2006 and a director since July 2006.

Mig33, a company that operates a social network over mobile phones and other devices, announced that it has hired David Moore as its CFO. Previously, Moore served as vice president of finance at Charles Schwab, he also worked at NorthPoint Communications. Mig33 also hired Francis Yu as vice president of engineering and operations, as well as Ken Sandy as vice president of product marketing.

Wavesat has appointed Victor Menasce as vice president of product management. Victor is a 21-year industry veteran and brings extensive experience in wireless, processing, telecom and semiconductors. Prior to joining Wavesat, Victor was chief technical officer with Applied Micro Circuits Corporation.

Strix Systems has added the Mobile Wireless System (MWS) 100 to its Access/One product line. The MWS enables on-board video surveillance, voice over IP and critical data applications for in-vehicle wired or wireless client connectivity in public safety, railway, municipal, strategic and tactical wireless broadband mesh networks.
