IBM Announces MobileFirst Enterprise Portfolio

IBM has reinvigorated its mobile enterprise portfolio with the announcement of the MobileFirst suite of software and services. The computing giant also announced an expanded relationship with AT&T in order to get these new tools out to more developers.

FCC Adopts New Guidelines for Signal Boosters

The FCC today issued a Report and Order concerning cellular signal booster use and preventing them from interfering with wireless networks. Under the new rules, consumers are required to obtain permission from and register their signal booster with their wireless carriers in order to continue using it.

Leap’s 4Q 2012 Misses Revenue, Reports Big Subscriber Loss

Leap today reported a 2012 fourth-quarter revenue of $756 million, which fell short of the street by $23.62 million. But fourth quarter EPS beat estimates by $0.61, coming in at a loss of 96 cents per share. Net subscriber losses for the fourth quarter hit 337,000, a marked increase over the 269,000 subscribers Leap lost in the previous quarter.

Hesse: Sprint Looking for More Spectrum

Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said his company is seeking to acquire more wireless spectrum in order to stay competitive with AT&T and Verizon. In an interview with Bloomberg, Hesse said Sprint hopes to scoop up more of the precious commodity by either buying it from other companies or from the government.
