PAY DECREASE: The AP found the compensation of Verizon Communications Inc.' CEO Ivan Seidenberg fell 14 percent in 2009 amid layoffs that accompanied the decline of the company's fixed-line phone business.
MILLIONS LESS: Seidenberg received compensation valued at $17.5 million, down from $20.2 million the year before, according to the AP tally.
WHAT CHANGED: The biggest hit to his pay came from the value of performance stock units, which declined to $11.1 million from $13.1 million a year ago.
