T-Mobile USA is letting its prepaid subscribers buy service in increasingly tiny increments with three new pay-by-the-day plans.
The new daily plans include $3 per day for unlimited talk, text and Web, with first 200MB of high-speed data; $2 per day for unlimited talk, text and Web on T-Mobile's 2G EDGE network; and $1 per day for unlimited text and 10 cents per minute for talk.
The operator also came out with a $60 monthly plan with all-you-can eat talk, text and mobile Internet service, with speeds throttled after 2GB.
The plans are currently available online and at T-Mobile's brick-and-mortar stores.
The latest changes to the operator's service prices came just one day after Walmart launched a low-cost $30 T-Mobile plan targeted at heavy texters. The prepaid plan includes all-you-can eat SMS and 5 GB of high-speed data, but only 100 voice minutes.
T-Mobile has made several changes to its service plans over the past several months amid a broader shift in the industry away from unlimited data plans.
In August, it announced it would start charging overage fees for customers on its 200 MB plan. One month earlier, it said it would let customers pay for devices on an installment plan that would be added to their monthly bill.
Those changes followed a major overhaul of T-Mobile's rate plans in May which let customers choose between various data caps ranging from 200 MB to 10 GB before being kicked down to T-Mobile's slower 2G network.
