Sprint is now offering WiMAX services in Denver, Colo. and Bridgeport, Conn. The carrier’s next-generation mobile broadband service is now available in 70 markets.

Zagg has issued a statement refuting the implications in a recent blog posted on Seeking Alpha about the company, which Zagg claims was issued specifically to cause a decline in the company stock price to support the increase in the short interest in the company stock, and purchases of stock options related to these short positions. The company has begun an investigation into the circumstances around the trading in ZAGG stock and options on Thursday, Dec.16, 2010, and has filed a formal complaint with the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Zagg says it will report this matter to the SEC and take other appropriate action if needed.

The ZigBee Alliance has completed ZigBee Input Device, the new global standard for human interface devices used in consumer electronics and computer accessories. The ZigBee Input Device gives consumers improved options to use mice, touchpads, keyboards, wands or remote control pointers from greater distances and even nearby rooms. It replaces 30 year-old infrared technology with a standard radio frequency solution and provides two-way communications between devices, making them smarter and capable of delivering more features than today's devices.

Tapulous has launched Tap Tap Revenge 4 on the Apple App Store. The free app features new tracks from Linkin Park, Katy Perry, Benny Benassi, My Chemical Romance, Kid Cudi, Justin Timberlake, Daft Punk, Train, Far East Movement, Hinder, Edward Maya, Selena Gomez, the Scene, Florence and the Machine, Cee-Lo, Nicki Minaj, Young MC, and Bad Religion. It also has an all-new arcade mode, high-resolution Retina Display graphics and Game Center integration.

Wind River has teamed with VIA Telecom on a multiyear project, codenamed Kunlun, to help bring low-cost Android smartphones featuring high-end capabilities to regional original equipment manufacturers for the Chinese CDMA market. The Android software stack at the heart of Kunlun leverages Wind River Platform for Android, a validated and fully compliant commercial-quality software platform based on the Android software development kit.

The GSM Association (GSMA) today announced that the CEOs of Cisco, Ericsson and Telefonica are scheduled to deliver keynote presentations at the 2011 GSMA Mobile World Congress, which will be held Feb. 14-17 in Barcelona. Previously announced speakers include the CEOs of AT&T, Google and HTC. The GSMA also announced five new application developer conferences (ADCs) as part of its App Planet event at Mobile World Congress.

ABI Research reports that mobile commerce sales in the United States will top $3.4 billion this year. In 2008, mobile commerce sales excluding travel totaled just $396.3 million in the United States.

Brightstar has been in the Asia Pacific region for more than six years, and has continued to grow and strengthen its business operations there. The company has more than 600 employees in the region.
