Best Buy is offering a free side shield for the iPhone 4 to to anyone who purchased or will purchase an iPhone 4 from Best Buy and all existing Reward Zone customers. The Zagg product was designed to address issues with antenna attenuation and is available to the general public for $9.99, including installation. In addition, all consumers can take advantage of 20 percent off of any iPhone 4 case through Aug. 7.

Boost Mobile has unveiled the Motorola Rambler, a flip phone with a full qwerty keypad, GPS and Bluetooth. The device will be available Aug. 11 at Boost's website for $99.99 with free shipping. The phone is also available now through Boost Mobile retail stores, select independent wireless dealer locations and Best Buy. Next month, Motorola Rambler will be sold at Meijer.

J.D. Power and Associates today announced that T-Mobile was the sole wireless carrier to earn the highest ranking in its 2010 Wireless Customer Care Performance Study.

InterDigital says it made $35 million, or 78 cents per diluted share, in the second quarter on sales of $91.2 million. The company will provide an update on its revenue expectations for the third quarter of 2010 after it receives and reviews the applicable patent license and product sales royalty reports.

CommScope says it made $44.2 million, or 43 cents per diluted share, in the second quarter on sales of $838.1 million. The company said strong spending on wireless technology in North America and a global recovery in demand from the enterprise sector drove sales growth.

• Wireless LAN company Meru Networks says it made $900,000 dollars, or 5 cents per diluted share, in the second quarter on sales on $20.9 million. Last year the company lost $2.3 million during the same period on sales of $17.1 million.

Airwide Solutions has announced its AirMessenger rapid service platform, which is targeted at helping operators quickly launch core mobile messaging services or new applications such as mobile banking. Airwide says its technology can reduce the time to deploy mobile applications by up to 40 percent.
